Bonus : Hawthorn and Motherwort Pastilles

I did say I ADORE hawthorn didn't I? Here's a bonus recipe for Hawthorn and Motherwort Pastilles. If you use the Chinese Hawthorn variety, the flavor does resemble the asian candy called Hawflakes.

Hawthorn and motherwort pastilles

Ingredients 
1/4 cup ground dried hawthorn (use Chinese hawthorn (Crataegus pinnatifida))

1/8 cup ground dried motherwort
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/8 cup ground dried rose petals
*Hawthorn Honey or regular honey

Note: make sure all dried herbs are finely ground to powder.

Instructions
1. Mix all powdered ingredients in a bowl.
2. Add honey a little bit at a time and stir with spoon till everything binds together and is sticky.
3.Use fingers to pinch of a small amount and press into a small ball. About 1/4 inch in size.
4. Place all pastilles on foil or parchment paper and dry over night.
5. Store in a sealed air tight container

Dosage
1 - 2 pills a day. No more than 3 max a day.

Storage
Only lasts two weeks. A month maximum but potency of medicine will start to decrease after time. 

*Hawthorn Honey

Ingredients

 fresh hawthorn berries

1 quart mason jars and lids

Enough unfiltered and unpasteurized honey to top filled jars

Instructions

Fill jar halfway to 2/3 full with hawthorn berries. Pour honey to completely fill up jar. Place lid on and shake. Infuse for about 3-4 weeks. Shake daily.
